Your data
Delete your data
Turtle Escape creates an anonymous guest account the first time you play online, so that your progress can be backed up and your best runs can appear on the leaderboards. There is no sign-up, no email, and no password. This page explains how to delete that account and the data attached to it, either yourself inside the Game or by asking us. It sits alongside our Privacy Policy.
01Delete it yourself, in the Game
Open the Game, tap the settings icon to open Options, scroll to Account, and tap Delete account. You will be asked to confirm. The deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.
This is available on iOS from version 1.2.0 and on Android from version 1.2.1, which are the first versions of the Game published on each store. If you are on an older build, use the email route below and we will do it for you.
02Ask us to delete it
If you have already uninstalled the Game, lost the device, or are on a version without the button above, email [email protected] with the subject "Delete my Turtle Escape data" and include:
- your display name in the Game, as it appears on the leaderboards;
- whether you played on iOS or Android;
- roughly when you started playing, which helps us tell similar names apart.
We reply to confirm before we delete anything, and we complete verified requests within 30 days - usually within a few days. We may ask one follow-up question if we cannot confidently identify the account, because deleting the wrong player's progress is not reversible either. We never ask for a password, because there is no password.
03What is deleted
Deleting the account removes all of the following from our servers:
- the player record and the anonymous guest identifier it is keyed by;
- your display name and the avatar, frame and title shown next to it;
- your cloud save, and with it your progress, currencies, collections and your Lagoon;
- your match history: distances, scores, levels and modes played;
- your entries on every leaderboard, so the name stops appearing publicly;
- any promo codes recorded as redeemed by you;
- every session token issued to your devices.
Data held on the device itself is separate, and yours to remove: it goes when you delete the account in-game, and it also goes if you simply uninstall the Game.
04What we keep, and why
- Purchase records, unlinked from you. If you ever bought something, the transaction record is kept for tax and accounting purposes, which the law requires of us. The link to your player record is removed, so what remains is an amount, a product and a date that no longer identifies you.
- Crash and performance reports. These are collected without user identifiers in the first place, so there is nothing in them to attach to you or to find and remove. They age out on their own.
- Anonymous, aggregated counts. Totals such as how many runs have been played across all players do not identify anyone and are not reversed by a deletion.
05Deleting is not refunding
Anything you bought stays owned by your Apple or Google store account, not by the player record we delete. So deleting your data does not refund a purchase, and if you install the Game again later, Restore purchases in Options will re-grant what you own - though the progress, currencies and collections attached to the deleted account are gone for good. Refunds are handled by Apple and Google, not by us.
